Question: I am addicted to smoking, how can i stop myself?

Smoking is the most common substance addiction in the world. It causes neuro-chemical changes in the brain, because of which it is extremely addicted.
When wanting to stop smoking a step-wise method has to be followed:
- Motivate yourself to stop smoking
- Irrespective of how much you smoke, the maximum chances of success happen when you progressively decrease the number of cigarettes per week. The aim should be to completely stop within 4 weeks
- Since the above method requires a lot of will power, and most people fail in the same. Immediately stopping smoking, requires you to battle the withdrawal effects
- Professional help can be taken to use medications to battle the withdrawal effects and decrease craving
